Disbelief

Suspension of disbelief.  I understand it, I exercise it daily when viewing movies, listening to rap stories and watching commercials.  But there are times when I am unable to suspend my disbelief.  There are some things that ring too outlandish, too ridiculous, that something must be said.  The madness must be stopped.  Like in this commercial from T-Mobile. Click to watch

Normal add right?  Nothing weird. T-Moblie “Brings the Game to you”  Hey, I love smart phones, no problem with that.  Here are my problems.  It begins with some lady, we’ll call her “Jane” running behind the spokeswoman?

Jane claims to be going to a “game”.  She is wearing a purple-ish sweater and purple pants.  Not “Going to the game”-wear but maybe purple is a team color or maybe she’s just not a big fan.  Suspension of disbelif in tack.  So the spokesperson shows here this cool phone and informs here the game is on the phone.

Cool, right.  I will point out the team dunking the ball is wearing red and other team is in black.  Neither team is in purple.  Again, Jane is probably just meeting friends there, not really a “superfan”.  More evidence of that, the fact that she dosnt react to the dunk she sees on the phone.  If anything it’s clear she is not a fan of the black team.  If she was she would be bummed, right?  They just got dunked on. I’d be furious.   She is acctually more impressed with the phone, which is great, they’re selling phones.   Then ish gets cray.  A Basketball net, players, a coach, a cheerleader and a Lion mascot appear.

Okay?  WTF is this?  It is at this point when my disbelif is uncontainable.  So many questions.  Is that the game from the phone?  Has it “litterally” brought the game to them?  Why is it a different hoop? That’s an outdoor hoop, game in the phone was clearly in a gym on a court. Where is the court?  It’s not even the players or action we saw on the phone.  What happened to the dunking guy?  Where’s the red team?  Why  does the lion have pink hair?  Did the phone warp these people here?  Why are they not freaked out?  Why is Jane not freaked out?  I do not know what is going on.

Then Jane, who is wearing nothing to signify she is a fan of the Black team, who said nothing when the red team dunked the ball on the black team, nothing when the black team magically appeared.  Jane turns to a player berates him due to his free throw percentage???  Everyone is like  ”Oh snap”and the commercial ends.

WHAT!?!  I thought she didnt even care about the game?  I thought the phone was more important?  Why is she not wearing her pink lion t-shirt?  Now she knows these dudes free throw percentages?  Why is she not yelling at the whole team for just getting dunked on? I can’t handle it.  Maybe writing this will help me get over it.  - Colton
